Jyeshta (ज्येष्ठा)
Jyeshta covers verses 69 to 72 of the stotram, one for each of its four padas.
Pada 1 · Verse 69
कालनेमिनिहा शौरिः शूरः शूरजनेश्वरः ।
त्रिलोकात्मा त्रिलोकेशः केशवः केशिहा हरिः ॥ ६९ ॥
kālanēminihā śauriḥ śūraḥ śūrajanēśvaraḥ |
trilōkātmā trilōkēśaḥ kēśavaḥ kēśihā hariḥ || 69 ||
He breaks the rim of ignorance on the wheel of time. In the shrines, He dwells as Sauri (Krishna) and as Rama the valiant, ruler of heroes like Hanuman. He moves through the three worlds to bless His devotees and rules them. As Kesava, He removes all distress, He killed the asura Kesi, and as Hari He dwells on the Govardhana hill.
Pada 2 · Verse 70
कामदेवः कामपालः कामी कान्तः कृतागमः ।
अनिर्देश्यवपुर्विष्णुः वीरोऽनन्तो धनञ्जयः ॥ ७० ॥
kāmadēvaḥ kāmapālaḥ kāmī kāntaḥ kṛtāgamaḥ |
anirdēśyavapurviṣṇuḥ vīrō’nantō dhanañjayaḥ || 70 ||
He grants the desires of all and protects what He gives, holding all desirable things in plenty. He is charming in Himself and reveals the Agamas to the pure-minded. In each yuga, He takes a body suited to it. Pervading all, He swiftly destroys those who trouble the pious, is without limit in space, time or object, and surpasses all wealth.
Pada 3 · Verse 71
brahmaṇyō brahmakṛdbrahmā brahma brahmavivardhanaḥ |
brahmavidbrāhmaṇō brahmī brahmajñō brāhmaṇapriyaḥ || 71 ||
He is the good of all things great, the souls and prakruti. He created Brahma and is the Supreme Brahman, great and making all great. He makes tapas and dharma grow, knows and teaches the Vedas, possesses both the means of knowledge and what is known, perceives the Vedas with all their meaning, and holds dear those devoted to them.
Pada 4 · Verse 72
महाक्रमो महाकर्मा महातेजा महोरगः ।
महाक्रतुर्महायज्वा महायज्ञो महाहविः ॥ ७२ ॥
mahākramō mahākarmā mahātējā mahōragaḥ |
mahākraturmahāyajvā mahāyajñō mahāhaviḥ || 72 ||
He provides an easy, step-by-step path to lift His devotees from the very bottom to Himself, and His deeds for them are astonishing. His radiance destroys beginningless ignorance. Great as He is, He enters our tiny hearts. He is easy to worship, honours those devoted to Him alone, and His worship and its offerings are the greatest of all.
