Sri Vishnu Sahasranaama Anubhavam · Appendix: Your Birth Star
Satabhisha (शतभिषक्)
Satabhisha covers verses 93 to 96 of the stotram, one for each of its four padas.
Pada 1 · Verse 93
सत्त्ववान् सात्त्विकः सत्यः सत्यधर्मपरायणः ।
अभिप्रायः प्रियार्होऽर्हः प्रियकृत्प्रीतिवर्धनः ॥ ९३ ॥
sattvavān sāttvikaḥ satyaḥ satyadharmaparāyaṇaḥ |
abhiprāyaḥ priyārhō’rhaḥ priyakṛtprītivardhanaḥ || 93 ||
He presides over sattva, which leads to release, and controls its fruits: dharma, knowledge, detachment and lordship. He is truth itself, and true dharma, practised without wanting reward, gives Him the greatest joy. He is His devotees' only aim, deserves their love because He loves them, fulfils even their lesser wishes, and increases their joy by revealing more of His qualities.
Pada 2 · Verse 94
विहायसगतिर्ज्योतिः सुरुचिर्हुतभुग्विभुः ।
रविर्विरोचनः सूर्यः सविता रविलोचनः ॥ ९४ ॥
vihāyasagatirjyōtiḥ surucirhutabhugvibhuḥ |
ravirvirōcanaḥ sūryaḥ savitā ravilōcanaḥ || 94 ||
By His grace, devotees at the highest stage of devotion reach Paramapadam. He Himself is the path of light they travel: the light (archis), the day, the bright fortnight, the northern course of the sun, and the year. He is the wind, the sun, and the light that shines on the moon, the lightning and Varuna, the next steps of the journey.
Pada 3 · Verse 95
अनन्त हुतभुग्भोक्ता सुखदो नैकदोऽग्रजः ।
अनिर्विण्णः सदामर्षी लोकाधिष्ठान मद्भुतः ॥ ९५ ॥
ananta hutabhugbhōktā sukhadō naikadō’grajaḥ |
anirviṇṇaḥ sadāmarṣī lōkādhiṣṭhāna madbhutaḥ || 95 ||
As Indra and Brahma, He escorts the released soul on the last steps. Through the touch of the divine being who is not human, He wipes away every trace of samsara and gives the bliss of Himself. He gives the soul all the honours of Sri Vaikuntham, comes forward with Sri Mahalakshmi to welcome it, and at last is free of worry. He lovingly accepts its service, supports the eternal world, and is ever new and wondrous.
Pada 4 · Verse 96
सनात्सनातनतमः कपिलः कपिरव्ययः ।
स्वस्तिदः स्वस्तिकृत्स्वस्ति स्वस्तिभुक्स्वस्तिदक्षिणः ॥ ९६ ॥
sanātsanātanatamaḥ kapilaḥ kapiravyayaḥ |
svastidaḥ svastikṛtsvasti svastibhuksvastidakṣiṇaḥ || 96 ||
He gives perfect enjoyment of Himself to all the released souls equally. Though most ancient, He is ever new, beautiful in complexion, and His bliss never grows less. He gives supreme auspiciousness, makes Himself available for the released souls to enjoy, is auspiciousness itself, protects it, and gives it as the reward to those who serve Him.
