Sri Vishnu Sahasranaama Anubhavam · Appendix: Your Birth Star

Pushyami (पुष्य)

Pushyami covers verses 29 to 32 of the stotram, one for each of its four padas.

Pada 1 · Verse 29

सुभुजो दुर्धरो वाग्मी महेन्द्रो वसुदो वसुः ।

नैकरूपो बृहद्रूपः शिपिविष्टः प्रकाशनः ॥ २९ ॥

subhujō durdharō vāgmī mahēndrō vasudō vasuḥ |

naikarūpō bṛhadrūpaḥ śipiviṣṭaḥ prakāśanaḥ || 29 ||

His auspicious arms bear the burdens of those who seek refuge, and none can resist them. His words, the Vedas, are worthy of praise. He is the great Lord of all wealth, who gives to the needy and is Himself the wealth of great souls. He has countless and immense forms, pervades the rays of light, and reveals His cosmic form to those who long for it.

Pada 2 · Verse 30

ओजस्तेजो द्युतिधरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापनः ।

ऋद्धस्स्पष्टाक्षरो मन्त्रः चन्द्रांशुर्भास्करद्युतिः ॥ ३० ॥

ōjastējō dyutidharaḥ prakāśātmā pratāpanaḥ |

ṛddhasspaṣṭākṣarō mantraḥ candrāṃśurbhāskaradyutiḥ || 30 ||

He has strength, power to overcome His enemies, and brilliance, and His greatness is plain even to the unlearned. He scorches His enemies and is full like the ocean at the full moon. The Vedas proclaim Him clearly. He protects those who meditate on Him, cools their distress like the moon, and outshines all like the sun.

Pada 3 · Verse 31

अमृतांशूद्भवो भानुः शशबिन्दुस्सुरेश्वरः ।

औषधं जगतस्सेतुः सत्यधर्मपराक्रमः ॥ ३१ ॥

amṛtāṃśūdbhavō bhānuḥ śaśabindussurēśvaraḥ |

auṣadhaṃ jagatassētuḥ satyadharmaparākramaḥ || 31 ||

The moon, born from His mind, owes its nectar-like rays to Him, and even the sun shines with a part of His light. He disowns those who stray, and is the Lord of those who walk the straight path. He is the medicine for the poison of samsara, the barrier that keeps good and evil apart, and His qualities and deeds are always true.

Pada 4 · Verse 32

भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः पवनः पावनोऽनलः ।

कामहा कामकृत्कान्तः कामः कामप्रदः प्रभुः ॥ ३२ ॥

bhūtabhavyabhavannāthaḥ pavanaḥ pāvanō’nalaḥ |

kāmahā kāmakṛtkāntaḥ kāmaḥ kāmapradaḥ prabhuḥ || 32 ||

He is the master of past, present and future, present everywhere like the wind, and He purifies the world. Never satisfied with the good He does, He removes worldly desires from those who know Him and creates what is truly worth desiring. He is charming and supremely lovable, grants every wish, and draws all minds to Himself.
