CHAPTER 31 OF 31 · 1 MIN READ
Srimad Bhagavata Kathasagaram
The Benefits of Reading or Listening to Srimad Bhagavatam
The Bhāgavatam itself describes the fruits that come to one who reads or hears it with sincerity. Such a person attains merit equal to the charity of a thousand cows, and gains the benefit of studying all eighteen Purāṇas. One who reads or listens with full concentration need not fear Yama after death, for they are assured of moksha, and the act is as meritorious as a pilgrimage to all the sacred teertha-kshetras.
It grants a long life free from disease and the burden of past sins, and the purity it bestows surpasses even the blessings of visiting Badrikashramam or bathing at Prayāga. Most importantly, the Lord never forsakes one who sincerely reads or listens to the Shrīmad Bhāgavatam, remaining ever present by their side.
And so this retelling closes with the traditional benediction of auspiciousness to the Lord who is the beloved of Sri and the treasury of all that is good:
shriyaḥ kāntāya kalyāṇa-nidhaye nidhaye'rthinām;
shrī-veṅkaṭa-nivāsāya shrīnivāsāya maṅgalam.
Sarvam Sri Krishnarpanamastu.
