- This kshethram is located in Joshimath en route to Badrināth in Uttarakhand.
Shrine Location
Sthala Puranam
The shrine that we see today is said to have been established by Sri Ādi Shankaracharya. We can see that Lord Narasimha is holding his chakram, which is said to be a prayoga-chakram that is spinning. During the winter season, Lord Badrinarayan's Utsavar Mūrti is brought to this temple and worshipped here, as it becomes very cold, and Badrināth closes its doors after Deepavali.
According to Tirumangai Āzhwār's pāsuram, we can understand that the temple and Lord being described is not the Lord Narasimha who we see today. Tirumangai Āzhwār describes the Lord to be reclining in the bujanga shayanam on Ādishesha bearing a thousand heads. According to the pāsuram, the kshethram could be situated at Manasarovar.
However, since time immemorial, all our acharyas have been visiting this kshethram, situated in Joshimath.
