This kshethram comprises two temples, namely Pachivannam and Pavalavannam. The presiding deity is said to be prathyaksham for Bhṛgu Maharshi and Ashwini Devatas here.

Special Note
According to regional temple lore, Sage Bhṛgu (or Sage Marīchi in some accounts) performed severe penance at Kāñchipuram and was blessed with a vision of Lord Vishṇu as Rāma. During this divine discourse, Lord Rāma explained the significance of the Rāmāyaṇa and highlighted the deep spiritual bonds of his companions. He revealed that Lord Shiva had manifested as Hanumān, while his eternal serpent bed, Ādishesha, had manifested as his loyal brother, Lakshmaṇa. Upon hearing this, the sage grew highly eager to witness the divine form of Ādishesha.
Obliging his pure devotion, Ādishesha manifested right there as a brilliant, blazing light (Jyoti) directly above Lord Vishṇu’s head. To honor this specific cosmic event and the form of the divine serpent appearing as pure spiritual light, the Nāga Dīpam is continuously kept lit in the temple’s shrine. Devotees worship this lamp to seek protection from negative forces.
