Tirupadagam

Shree Krishna told the Pāṇḍavas that he would, for the last time, visit the court of Hastinapur and try his hand at imploring reason to Duryodhana, trying to make him realize that nothing good could come out of a war. Shree Krishna arrived in Hastinapur and, instead of staying in the palace, chose to spend some time with Vidura. He stayed the night at Vidura's house and in the morning went to the court of Hastinapur to try and convince Duryodhana out of the idea of war.

Krishna presented his argument, asking that if the Kauravas did not want to return the entire kingdom, then at least provide the Pāṇḍavas with five villages.

Duryodhana, in a crimson fury, snapped at Krishna, saying that he was not qualified to come to the court with such an issue and told him to go back to herding cattle. He further told Krishna that he would not give even a single needle-head's worth of land. He then instructed the guards to tie Krishna up and make him a prisoner. As the guards were tying Krishna, he started to grow to an immeasurable height and took his Vishwaroopam Form.

Vaisampayana Maharshi was narrating the Bhāgavatam to Janamejaya and was referring to Lord Krishna's visit to Hastinapuram as the Pāṇḍavas' Dhoota (Ambassador). Desiring to have the Vishwaroopa darsana, they performed Ashwamedhayagam at Kāñchipuram. On completion of the yagam, the Lord gave darshan as Pandavadhootar. There are shrines for Rāmānuja Āchārya and Manavaala Maamunigal.
