Shrine Location
Sthala Puranam
The legend has it that Lord Vishṇu, in the form of Mohinī Avataram, distributed the celestial nectar Amritam to the Devas; hence, this place is also called Mohana-kshethram. It is also believed that Pulastya Muni performed tapas at this kshethram to have children. This Lord is believed to guide souls who have left the blazing body in the venture of Vaikuṇṭham. The Lord is said to throw water like a Megham (cloud) every step of the way so that the road to Vaikuṇṭham is cool.
ChakrathAzhwar
The worship of ChakrathAzhwar at this kshethram is very important, as He is believed to remove any hurdles in one's life or on the journey to Vaikuṇṭham. Devotees who come to this kshethram without fail take home with them a yanthram, which consists of the imagery of the Lord along with the Sudarshana Mantram engraved onto a copper or brass plate.
