Sthala Puranam
As in Tirukarambanur, the fifth head of Lord Brahmā, which Lord Shiva plucked out, became stuck to his hand and was released only after Pūrṇavalli Thāyār offered alms, filling the Brahmakapalam. It is said that the Lord gave the Brahmahatyā-Dosha Pariharam here. Hence, the Lord got the name Hara Shapa Vimochana Perumāl.
