- This kshethram is located in Talaichchangaadu village, near Aakkur, close to Sīrkāzhi, between Chidambaram and Māyilāduthurai.

Sthala Puranam
It is said that Chandran was the husband of the twenty-seven nakshatras, who were the daughters of Daksha Prajapati. It is noted that Chandran showed more affection towards Rohini and was ignoring his other twenty-six wives. Thus, Daksha Prajapati was angered by Chandran's behavior and cursed him, saying he would suffer from Kshaya-Rogam(tuberculosis). It is said that to relieve himself of the curse, Chandran came here to this kshethram and prayed to the Lord after taking a dip in the temple's pushkariṇī.
The Lord is then said to have appeared here and relieved Chandran of his curse.
